Ellie’s Guest House Hostel Brisbane, Australia
Construction of Maxwell is currently well underway and is expected to be completed in the coming weeks.
Maxwell is located at 40 Maxwell Street, New Farm. It’s a dead end, mostly houses. It’s a quiet street that runs along the Brisbane River along New Farm. Maxwell itself is not an absolute waterfront as it is on the other side of the road. However, the building still offers great views of the river, city and Story Bridge.
Internally, the apartments are finished to a high standard. Standout features of these large owner suites include European oak hardwood floors, wine refrigerators and faucets with sparkling and still water.
Maxwell stands out from many other luxury apartment developments in Brisbane for its size and location. If you’re looking to stay in New Farm, a townhouse is likely the way to go. In other inner-city suburbs, there are many other luxury owner-occupied developments similar to The Maxwell that are of comparable fit, price and size and will offer riverside or waterfront locations, but often in larger buildings. Sure, Maxwell will have fewer facilities, but also fewer neighbors…and probably most importantly for many buyers, you’ll be on a new farm.

Maxwell consists of 16 residential apartments over five floors with two levels of underground car park. On the roof of the building is a small relaxation area with a swimming pool overlooking the city.
Two (2) apartments in the building range in price from $885,000 to $915,000, with interiors ranging from 105sqm to 108sqm with large balconies. Both apartments have two bathrooms and two adjacent parking spaces.
There are several three (3) bedroom apartments ranging in price from $1,165,000 to $1,545,000. Both have an internal area of over 175m² which is a very good size.
On the top floor of the building are two loft-style apartments priced in excess of $2,000,000 on more than 200 square meters.
Entry Level Loft Apartment In The Heart Of New Farm
Being so close to the river, the building will have views of the city, Kangaroo Point (4169) and Story Bridge. These landscapes will only get better as you go up the building. The lower floors may have glimpses of the river through the houses between them and the river. However, there is currently a sizeable house under construction diagonally across from The Maxwell that will cover part of town, especially the lower apartments, so check before buying.
Construction on The Maxwell has yet to begin. It is expected to start soon. Construction will take about 12 months.

Eagle Farm Racecourse
For a suburb so close to the city, there are relatively few new developments in the area. All of the new apartments at New Farm are low rise, so the suburb really retains the “country” feel. Neighboring suburbs include Tenerife (4005), Newstead (4006) and Fortitude Valley (4006).
This is a popular area for families, especially thanks to New Farm Park, one of Brisbane’s most scenic riverside parks. New Farm Park is a 10-minute walk from The Maxwell. For those who prefer afternoon walks, there are many nearby trails along the Brisbane River to Tenerife and Hamilton (4007), and even into the city. It takes about 25 minutes to walk from Maxwell along the dedicated riverside path to Eagle Street Pier in the CBD.
There are several shops, restaurants and cafes just a three-minute walk from The Maxwell Hotel. This area is home to Vine Restaurant, an upscale Italian restaurant very popular with New Farm locals.
Merthyr Village is a two-minute drive from The Maxwell. This is a great collection of local shops, restaurants and shops. There’s a Coles, pharmacy, fruit shop and The New Farm Deli with a range of Italian food. There are also Commonwealth Bank branches, butchers, Australia Post and several restaurants. There are many other shops in the Merthyr Road shopping area. If you are watching The Maxwell and are not very familiar with the New Farm area, we recommend taking a walk in the area to experience it.

Maxwell is just an 8-minute drive from the heart of the Brisbane CBD. Additionally, the Airport Link entrance is so close to the condominium complex that residents can drive to the airport in less than 25 minutes.
On public transport, there is a Moray Street bus stop just 100 metres from the hotel to Merthyr village or the city. Sydney Street Ferry Terminal is less than 1 km from the hotel. There are regular services here, extending downstream to the CBD, or upstream to Hamilton Reach or Bulimba (4171).
These are expensive apartments for the rich. So Maxwell is pretty high quality and finish.
Some of the standout features of this project are the European oak floors and the beautifully designed large kitchen and living area with plenty of custom cabinetry.

The kitchens in these apartments are large and built for those who love good food. Some of the kitchens at The Maxwell are 6.5m long, which is extremely rare in a new apartment. The kitchen is equipped with wardrobes, two Asko ovens, a fully integrated double fridge and a dishwasher. Zip’s faucets provide both sparkling and still water functionality. Also, the countertops are thicker than average and the cabinets are full height.
This high level of finish flows through the open plan living space, which features large custom wood cabinetry and extends to the deck. The deck’s roof has wood paneling, an attractive feature common in luxury residential projects today.
All lighting and climate in each apartment are controlled by Urban Airdevice, which is a great addition to the complex. As you’d expect from a condo in this price range, you’ll get fully ducted air conditioning.
As with most new developments in Brisbane, The Maxwell has a choice of light or dark colour schemes.

Overall, the interior design of the Maxwell Hotel is very modern and elegant. We recommend heading to the display kit to check it out, as it does take a look in person to appreciate the finer detail and quality of the accessories.
The new farm also has two competing developments with Maxwell. This is Point Luxe, also from Pointcorp and Oxley & Bowen. Both are townhouse developments but are similar to The Maxwell in terms of luxury nature and relative price.
Buyers looking at The Maxwell are likely to look at other luxury waterfront developments as well. The development could create competition in Greater Brisbane’s suburbs of Bulimba, West End (4101) and Kangaroo Point, which have multiple waterfronts.
Maxwell is being developed by Pointcorp, a Brisbane-based developer specializing in luxury apartment projects. They are known for delivering high quality apartment buildings that are truly the best in Brisbane. Their other projects include The Highgate and Point Luxe
