Benefit Hello Flawless Foundation – Is it just me or do cosmetic companies come out with products with longer names? Huh.
Well honey I have a combo for you, I knew I had to check it out when Xuan practically jumped all over my gorgeous skin. Say hello to Benefit’s Hello Flawless liquid and powder foundations.
Benefit Hello Flawless Foundation
The first is an oil-free liquid with spf 25 that promises to “create light to medium coverage for natural color you can trust.” It comes in a lightweight plastic pump bottle that keeps things simple and fearless. I usually dab a few on the back of my hand and use the Real Techniques Buffing Brush to blend it into the skin. It’s definitely light to medium coverage, but once it’s flawless it looks a little thick, I definitely feel like I’m wearing makeup. However, it covers all redness and pigmentation on my cheeks and even skin tone, especially around the mouth. I matched with I’m All the Rage Beige which is surprisingly good. It’s matte to the touch, but feels silky on the face (not particularly matte or dewy), and although it’s non-greasy, my face glows after four hours. Smells like sunscreen lotion.

Next, a special powder finish with a powder foundation and it comes with a brush “for sheer natural finish” and a sponge “for full coverage”. It’s housed in a bulky case with a full glass (the applicators are in the compartment below the powder) which makes it portable, but it’s not the slimmest compact. I was matched with All The World’s My Stage beige, which was too pale for my liking, especially when trying to wear it on its own. My preferred method is to use the Ecotools powder brush and sweep the product onto my forehead and the center of my face to set the liquid foundation. It provides a bit more coverage and reduces shine. Benefit definitely took time to break into the liquid foundation market. Known for its bright lipsticks and colorful box blushes, the San Francisco-based brand has always stuck to powder-based foundations. Now, after four years of research and development, the brand has launched its first liquid foundation. Meet Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow… but does the product live up to its name?

Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Foundation comes in a clear lightweight plastic bottle with a pump dispenser. The pump is very sturdy and the cap closes tightly, making traveling with the bottle very easy. I love the overall packaging of this foundation. The foundation has a creamy texture of medium thickness and spreads easily. It works equally well with sponges and flat top kabuki style brushes. The finish gives a medium to semi dewy finish. It contains a serum-infused formula called Benefit’s exclusive Oxygenated Hydration Complex, which boosts cellular respiration and has a plumping effect. I don’t see any visible plumping effect, but it does provide a dewy glow. The formula doesn’t dry down completely as expected. That’s why it’s so prone to transferring onto phones and clothes (collared shirts) that I like the Nars Sheer Glow Foundation. It also tends to settle into smile lines, so you need a smoothing primer around the nose and mouth to keep it to a minimum. Therefore, this is not a foundation I would recommend for aging skin. Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Foundation is ideal for dry to very dry skin as it is very hydrating. It does not stick to dry patches at all. Personally, I wouldn’t recommend this for those with oily skin, but if needed, a mattifying primer should help. Application wise, it applies very well and blends into the skin very easily. The coverage is average and the layers in the product do not increase the coverage. This foundation has a tendency to oxidize easily. I find that if I use a smoothing primer, the color shift isn’t as obvious, but if you use a hydrating primer, it can oxidize at least 2 shades darker. I’m in the shade beige and although it’s a bit too yellow for my liking, it looks good on my skin when blended on the neck. Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Foundation lasts about 6 hours with a primer. It disappears at the end of the day, or rather moves. It contains SPF 25 which is great. They have a beautiful shade range of 9 shades in total. Shade 5 (beige) is suitable for medium-deep skin. It’s fragrance-free, which is a plus. Overall Benefits Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Foundation is a good foundation that is perfect for dry skin. I love how this foundation applies on my skin – medium coverage with a subtle natural dewy look.
If you have dry skin, this foundation will work great for you. Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow foundation is a beautiful base makeup product combined with a smoothing primer.

I’ve asked beauty products for beautiful packaging and Benefit always scores high in this department. I love how the pump goes up when the foundation is applied, so there’s no annoying excess foundation at the bottom.
I used the shade “Trust Me” which is one of the lighter shades, ivory. I love the texture of the foundation, but I was surprised at how greasy this “oil-free” foundation looked! I have normal to dry skin and most days when using this foundation it looked oily which was disappointing. When you first applied the foundation in the morning, it looked nice and matte like the blended image above. During the day, it lost its matte effect and looked a bit light in my opinion. In my opinion, this foundation is more suitable for night makeup than for all day makeup.
