After P&O ferry service between Larne and Cairns was fully restored, STENA NORDICA departed Kairns this afternoon for Karlskrona (Sweden). She is currently scheduled to resume her voyage on Thursday night (28 April) on the usual Karlskrona-Gdynia route.

The ferry company Stena Line continues to add additional services on routes from Northern Ireland to Scotland.

STENA NORDICA will now be in Belfast – Cairnrian service until Sunday, April 24th. This will extend her tenure as the North Channel’s third vessel. The ship was in service for about six weeks after it entered service on March 22.

The European Highlander is scheduled to return to service this week under inspection by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency. P&O Ferries will be eager to avoid further custody. Many voyages during Easter are fully reserved for vehicular traffic. This pattern is common on the weekends after P&O ferries are out of service.

It’s unclear whether passengers are boycotting P&O ferries due to layoffs, despite social media bluffs. Passengers are more likely to avoid very limited itineraries and some services may not operate.
