Cloncurry Couriers Mt Isa – Cloncurry Courier Service picked up the Business of the Year award at the Commerce North West 2018 Northern Outback Business Awards on Saturday.

Cloncurry Courier Service, based on Ryan Rd Mount Isavon, presented the award in front of a crowd of 400 at Buchanan Park Leisure Center on a glittering night.

They also won the Service Excellence Award from the Department of Trade and Services and the judges, which included the best business plan, best expansion planning and “an outstanding work ethic that was widely accepted”.

Employees Ian and Melina Fletcher joined the platform as they took over the business.

Melina Fletcher said she and her husband came from cattle ranches and knew nothing about trucking when they started the business.

“We’ve worked hard to protect ourselves and now have dedicated staff helping everyone in the community.”

“They’re on the road at 3am every day, making sure Cloncurry gets to the pathology hospital, to the mining equipment and out of sight of the public.”

Other big winners on the night were Sally Prendergast (DILI) with three awards, Custom Steel Fab, Mt Isa Isuzu Ute, Julia Creek’s Gravel and Grace and Karumba’s End of Road Motel with two.

LJ Hooker has been inducted into the Mount Isa and Sanctum Skin and Spa Retreat Commerce North West Hall of Fame.
