“The changes we are introducing to our network schedules in 2019 are in line with this strategy, taking into account global market dynamics and operational constraints, including maintenance work on the south runway at Dubai Airport. Throughout the year, we will continue to closely monitor international markets and maintain the flexibility to use our aircraft assets.”
A significant number of scheduled flights will be affected by the closure of the south runway at Dubai International Airport for maintenance activities between 16 April and 30 May 2019.
Given the restrictions around operating flights using a single hub runway, many flights will be cancelled, rescheduled or diverted to minimize the impact on customers. This will result in up to 48 aircraft being idled, with a 25% reduction in the airline’s total number of flights over a 45-day period.
Additional flights to several African markets will be introduced in June 2019. The additional services will meet the airline’s demand in these markets and offer customers even more seamless connections between these destinations and the international network via Dubai. Cities in Africa to be served by the additional flights include:

Double Blow: New Data Breach Hits Stranded Australians As Emirates Suspends Flights Out Of Uk
Emirates had already planned to expand its global network to around a dozen countries this week, although it ruled out a decision to suspend all passenger flights for the next three days.
Before the tough UAE sanctions were announced, the Gulf giant said it would target Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Switzerland, Thailand, the United Kingdom and the United States . to fly passengers.
This represents a surprising contraction in Emirates’ global outlook compared to December 2019, when the airline operated more than 3,500 flights to 159 destinations per week, and reflects the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, which has also reduced passenger numbers. The number has decreased. Countries are closing their borders and advising people not to travel.
