“The Council’s Department of Children’s Services wants to find teachers who want to start a business to look after some children. Because starting your own business is so expensive, this incentive program is designed to help people hit the ground running without going into debt or draining their savings.”
“We require family daycare teachers to have at least 12 months of service with the board,” he said.
To be eligible they must be over 21 years of age, currently working with children, or intending to become one, and must be a registered teacher at Orange Family Day Care with a successful application and interview.
They must also have at least a Certificate III in Children’s Services or be registered and willing to work

The City Council-coordinated Family Day Care program currently has 15 local teachers. But because of the teacher shortage, the family currently has about 160 children on its waiting list. Family Day Care is a children’s service run by a qualified teacher who cares for four children in their own home.
Help: Newly announced funding will help the City Council hire more teachers to oversee Family Day. Pictured (L-R) are teacher Bobby Brown, Family Day Care Manager Megan Dawson, Member of Parliament Andrew G and Mayor CR Reg Kidd, with children: Carter Bushnell, Evie Knight and Sophia Knight.
The final funding, which will be distributed over a two-year period, will be funded through local community groups proposing a new teacher recruitment initiative.
“I am delighted that the City Council has been able to work with the Australian Government to improve the sustainability of family day care services,” Cr Reg Kidd said.

“Family day care is very popular in the United States, and there are currently 160 children on the waiting list who need a place. There are currently fifteen family day care teachers, but there is enough demand to double that number. The real problem is hiring and what funding is going to make this happen.” to implement
“Having a nanny in the family can provide parents with many young children at home, providing a valuable service while working from home and earning a good income. I hope this funding will make all the difference.
“Covid has taught us how much people want to work from home. Family Day Care allows someone to create a new business while working from home,” said CR Kidd.
Member for Calare Andrew Gee said the funding would create more childcare places in the borough, which would help more local parents get extra hours at work.
Family Day Care
“For over 30 years, Family Day Care has been providing day care that feels like a traditional day care center,” said Mr. Andrew Gee.
“Caregivers help children get the best start in life by opening doors to their families and giving children the chance to learn and grow in a small, family environment. Providing quality childcare is vital to supporting working families in our communities. That’s why the Australian Government is funding Family Day Care with $135,000 provides grant funding and helps recruit teachers.
“Increasing the number of family day care places will allow more local parents to return to work, volunteer or study.
“As more people consider moving from urban to regional NSW, increasing the number of childcare places in the country is vital to support young families who choose their home.” We are open 6:30am – 6:30pm and provide quality long-term care and education for children aged six weeks to five years in the Orange, NSW area. We are proud to have four youth rooms full of nutritious food and resources.
Raising Concerns With A Child Care Service
Our classrooms are designed and prepared by children and teachers to provide a comfortable, home-like environment for participation.
In our nursery, older children have their own yard so they can play freely at their own pace, and a separate bathroom for toilet trainers.
Our children’s room has great views of the main campus, giving them plenty of opportunities to develop social and communication skills and toilet training.
Our preschool has a variety of fun activities around the room and shares a dedicated yard with the preschool for gardening, picnics, and other outdoor activities you may want to participate in.
How Much Do Childcare Workers Earn?
Because our preschools offer a school readiness program, there are many opportunities for them to learn before they go to school, and children have plenty of room to express their ideas and interests.
In addition to our four beautiful rooms, we have three playgrounds designed with the natural elements in mind; Bamboo stairs, garden beds, vegetable gardens, trees, rock sand pits and drainage.
At Albert Street Children’s Center we believe that every child is given time to learn and grow in their own way. Families are encouraged to participate in center activities, and both families and children are encouraged to participate in our program. We believe in providing the highest quality experience for children.
All children are given the opportunity to participate in everything we do and we encourage children to express their own interests.
