To the horror of NVIDIA and many of their partners, we got a chance to check out the new GTX 660 Ti GPU in stock and overclocked form ahead of its official launch today. Today we saw our first retail sample based on the new GPU in the form of MSI’s GTX 660 Ti 2GB Power Edition.

Rtx 3060 Ti Vs 3070: Know Price, Specs And More Of Both Geforce Cards

Our approach as a Power Edition graphics card was to overclock this bad boy, but since this was the first retail GTX 660 Ti we received, we wanted to see how this model compared to the reference clocked version out of the box. it compares. We saw it the week before. Once that’s done, we’ll revisit the card in another upcoming article and see what the Power Edition name brings to the table when it comes to getting overclocking and what it does for overclocking. How does it make a difference We took the reference card out of it.

However, as always, there is still a lot of work to be done before we understand how stock momentum is performing, and our first consideration is the scenarios that will give us a chance. Covers some of the main features provided. Once that’s done, we’ll see on the cards how things have changed in terms of cooling, before looking at the model specs to see what this model is all about. Equipped with various watches. Reference NVIDIA clock.

Then it’s time for testing, covering the cards we’ll be using in the charts today, before getting into the performance of the new model. As mentioned, though, let’s first take a look at what’s going on with today’s package on the MSI GTX 660 Ti 2GB Power Edition.

Looking at the front of the box, we can see that we got the exclusive Power Edition color scheme. After opening the flip, you can see the MSI extension on some information. Highlights the triple overvoltage feature; perhaps a highlight for Power Edition cards with military-grade components. We can also see some other highlights here, including an enhanced PWM design and, of course, MSI Afterburner support.

When we get to the bottom half of the box you can see that we see this card, MSI is focusing on the real features of the Twin Frozr IV cooler with dual 80mm fans, multiple heat pipes, high density heatsink what can be done. There’s also a nickel-plated copper base, to name a few. Flip the box into some specifics about the GTX 660 Ti. We’ll cover this information later when we get to the normative aspect.

The last thing we need to look at before finally moving to cards is the actual bundle. We didn’t go down the usual route with a lot of paperwork and driver CDs. In addition to that, we have a DVI to VGA connector and two dual Molex to 6-pin PCIe power connectors for all power off.

Looking at the MSI GTX 660 Ti 2GB Power Edition for the first time, you’ll notice the trusty Twin Frozr IV cooler we’ve seen MSI use for a while.

As we mentioned earlier when looking at the packaging, you can see that we are dealing with two 80mm fans, and on the back you can see a large heatsink that takes up most of the graphics card. Finally, we can see a number of heat pipes on the bottom that help round out the cooling solution.

If we look around, we can’t see anything unusual in terms of the overall design. At the back, you can see that power is supplied via two 6-pin PCIe power connectors, while closer to the front, you can see two SLI connectors capable of driving three of them simultaneously.

Finally, we end with the I/O end, and looking up, you can see that we have two dual-link DVI connectors stacked on top of each other, while the DisplayPort and HDMI connectors are on the bottom left of the card. Finish. side of things. On top of these two connectors you can also see that we have an exhaust point to allow some hot air to escape.

Having a Power Edition based video card means we are dealing with overclocking out of the box. If you’re using the reference GTX 660 Ti, you’ll see a core clock of 915MHz, which has been boosted to 980MHz. For 2GB GDDR5, it will be 6008MHz QDR.

Above you can see the clock speeds we’re dealing with today on the Power Edition version of the GTX 660 Ti. Starting with the core clock, you can see that MSI has boosted it to 1020MHz, which means the boost clock frequency has also been pushed to 1098MHz. The memory is the same speed as the reference model with 6008MHz QDR.

We would like to thank the following companies for providing and supporting our test system hardware and equipment: Intel, Asus and Corsair.

From above, you can see that nothing has changed on our testbed, which actually includes everything in the image. So what we’re going to do is just jump into the cards we’ll be covering in our charts today, and then look at the final performance side of things and see what the new MSI GTX 660 Ti 2GB Power Edition card is capable of.

Outside of the MSI version, we also got the reference clock cards we saw the previous week, as well as references to the GTX 670 and GTX 680 to round out the NVIDIA side of things.

Of course, it doesn’t make sense to not include that many AMD cards, we start with the HD 7850 and HD 7870, which should be the main contenders for the new GTX 660 Ti from a price point of view. In addition to them, however, we also got the HD 7950 and HD 7970 as well as the new HD 7970 GHz variant we launched a few weeks ago.

When we benchmark video cards and look at the graphs, our goal is to hit a specific FPS level that we think is playable. While many may argue that the human eye can’t see more than 24 fps or 30 fps, any true gamer will tell you that as we get higher and higher frames per second (fps) the overall gaming experience is smoother . When it comes to our benchmarks, we focus on the third place.

30 FPS – This is the lowest number we set for the game. If you don’t go below 30 FPS during gameplay, then you will have a good and smooth gaming experience. Ideally, the minimum speed remains above 30 fps, even in heavy firefights, ensuring you can continue to aim or turn smoothly without any drama.

60 FPS – this is the average we are looking for when there is no minimum. If we’re getting 60 FPS on average, then we should be at least 30 FPS or higher, which, as mentioned above, means we’re doing some smooth gaming.

120 FPS – the new number we’ve been looking for in recent months. If you have a 120Hz monitor, you want to hit around 120 fps to get the most out of it. Going from 60 fps/60 Hz to 120 fps/120 Hz brings a certain fluidity that cannot really be explained, but must be experienced. Of course, if you’re buying a 120 Hz monitor to take advantage of 3D, an average of 120 FPS in our benchmarks means you’re averaging 60 FPS in 3D, which means you should expect some smooth gameplay.
