It’s worth booking a table at the cozy restaurant, Caxton Grill, which gets some of its ingredients from the hotel’s rooftop kitchen and beehives.
More interesting than a night in the cells is staying in the hotel that housed the old headquarters of the Metropolitan Police. The great Scotland Yard, owned by the Hyatt, looks much like its former life, with wings, uniforms and the like as interior details. There is much more to catch your eye, including 600 works of contemporary art. Dining here is a highlight – don’t miss a wood-fired meal at Exted on the patio or a cocktail at The 40 Elephants bar. You are a short walk from Parliament Street to the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey.
You might also want to spend some time in the London Marriott’s County Hall – from here you have beautiful views of the River Thames, the London Eye and the Houses of Parliament. Take a look at the Grade II listed building and you’ll find everything from the beautiful wood-paneled lobby to the Library’s cozy restaurant just as impressive. The rooms are smart and modern, their monochromatic colors brightened by splashes of red. Westminster Abbey is within easy walking distance, just over Westminster Bridge.
