Melbourne Cup 2016 Hats – Today was probably my second best day at the Melbourne Cup. I’m drunk (no lameness). I wear flats (so my feet don’t hurt). I don’t bet, not even on sweepstakes (no bank balance). I don’t have to pay for an expensive function or entry ticket (this year I’ll pay Pegasus instead). I arrived a minute or so after the race started (not really a problem considering how long it was). I didn’t know the name of the winning horse (what was that?) until I listened to the 5pm news on the way from the track to the Kingdom.

Pictured above are Sophia Haridemos, Cynthia Jones-Bryson and Melba Haridemos of the Hyatt. Ms Jones-Bryson is an award-winning miller and will judge the miller’s prize on Thursday’s Oaks Day at Flemington. The hats worn by Ms. Melba Haridemos are her own creations.

Melbourne Cup: Why To Go And What To Know About Victoria Derby Day

I spent two hours from 3:00 PM exploring the Hyatt, Thoroughbred Park, and Realm features, looking at all the trends (hats are stars), comparing the offerings at each location. So I know where to go next time. have fun on the first Tuesday in November and meet lots of interesting Canberrans. This is my people-watching on the best people-watching day of the year.

FYI, the garden function at the Hyatt seemed like a place for dining, atmosphere, and sunshine. The kingdom was noisy but very crowded. There’s a lot to see along the way, but if you look closely, none of the places there are as attractive as our top hotels.

It certainly beats my worst Cup day ever, where I invited another friend who works alone to watch my ghost town in the office (no TV) only to find out there was no way to watch the race online at the time I got it. . to the bowls club next door so that only the staff and regulars could watch, so we went there and sat down to work alone while we watched the race.

In November 2012, it was a surprisingly successful show. I was 38 weeks pregnant wearing joggers, leggings, and a maternity t-shirt that turned purple once. At around 2.50pm I was returning home from Harvey Norman with an air conditioner when I remembered it was Cup Day so I took the Griffon to the nearest place with TVs, the shop in Griffith, and soon met my kind (and) friends. despite my rough clothes) invited me to join the race. I think I’ll drink champagne and orange juice.

One of racing’s best interludes took place at Darling Park in the late 1990s. I worked at The Sydney Morning Herald in IBM’s building overlooking Darling Harbor and worked until lunchtime. Five minutes before the start of the competition we were all invited to the lobby of one of the complex buildings to watch the Melbourne Cup on the big screen. Hundreds, if not thousands, of pre-poured fizzy glasses on the tables around the room, like something out of a fairy tale, lots of friends and colleagues to cheer for, pre-prepared brooms, and no sin. it is so far from the office that it can only be reached by an elevator.

An old friend of mine is a Flemington member and took me to the track with him about ten years ago. I remember being surprised that there was a train that would take us from the city to the train. I will never forget the absolute silence and stillness of the moments before the race started, and the roar of the crowd as the horses entered the home straight. The members’ area is, as you might expect, more attractive than what Thoroughbred Park has to offer, although the public areas are full of drunken tourists who end up in ditches at the end of the day, just like here.

It’s always a great way to get us warmed up for the giant that’s coming to town – Melbourne Cup Carnival 2016. It all kicks off this Saturday with a twenty-four-degree summer dress-up Derby Day. It was a nice change from last Saturday, with some race meetings canceled and the big Cox Plate continuing with cold temperatures and a wet track.

The weather is perfect for the official opening of the Melbourne Cup Carnival. Last year, the number of tourists was low due to rain and cold. This year’s turnout was huge as media and visitors flocked to see Flemington’s new fashion precinct, The Park. This year’s “Fashion on the Field” will be held here. In previous years it was held next to the race track. In order to distribute the racers around the Flemington racetrack, the trend percentage was moved to the Park.

The park is a free place for the public to enjoy fashion, music, food and entertainment. At the park you’ll find James Boag’s Premium Bar, Yellowglen Terrace, Cocktail Caravan Park, fine dining from a variety of Melbourne restaurants and the Loreal Paris Powder Room. There is a free vintage ferris wheel and carousel that add some fun and color to the scene. The park is on the other side of the racetrack, but it’s definitely a place for fashionistas and partygoers, because we know neither of them are interested in horses! There are always screens to watch the races and if betting is your thing, there are plenty of places to bet.
