Hair should be removed (waxed/shaven) at least 24 hours before the tanning session. This gives time for the proteins and amino acids to build up again on the skin so that the tannins can develop. For laser hair removal, the skin must be colorless. Book your laser hair removal 2 to 3 days before your tan or 8-10 days after your spray tan.

Avoid moisturizing 24 hours before tanning. Residue can also remain on the skin after the shower and prevent the tanning agent from developing evenly.
Remember that the instant color you see is just the bronzer lead. The tan develops within 8 hours.

Ideally, before spray tanning, exfoliate your entire body with an exfoliating mitt and a sweet sugar scrub. You should do this at least 24 hours before tanning. This will help your tan by providing a flat surface for it to adhere to. Exfoliating also reduces the amount of dead skin cells that can slough off and make your complexion look spotty.
