Jaime and Dave often vacationed in Hervey Bay on Australia’s Fraser Coast when their children, Tom and Ivy, were young. When a job opportunity arose to move to Hervey Bay, she jumped at the chance to raise her children in a quiet beachside community. When he first saw what would become The Bay Beachouse, he was delighted with the informal layout and the abundance of space and potential.
Open House Hervey Bay
Jaime and Dave envisioned a home with beautiful French doors and an open floor plan that allows plenty of space for family and friends to gather or disappear into a private sanctuary. In 2018, he decided to start his long-held dream of renovating his house with the idea of turning it into a boutique holiday accommodation. In January 2020 after hard work and hard work, The Bay Beachouse opened.

Bay Beachouse is a contemporary modern amalgamation of relaxed coastal luxury. As you enter the home, you’ll immediately appreciate the impact of the front deck and entry, symmetrically flanked by French doors on either side and the Lucy Love Chair from Byron Bay Hanging Chairs hanging in half of the two entryways. It opens to a light and airy kitchen that is functional and inviting. Jaime is not one for clutter and looks at the carefully remodeled kitchen where everything feels just right, from the towering fiddle leaf figs, concrete counter tops to the rough wooden shelves and sitting area that soften the industrial feel and giving it an organic taste. to the board.
The front of the concrete bench has been covered in black and white geometric patterned tiles from Tile Cloud which add extra interest and depth to the kitchen and match the color of the Dulux Black Caviar kitchen cabinets.
But the highlight is the walk through the French doors from the kitchen to the indoor/outdoor plantation style deck. The area is large and has space for a barbecue and dining area, featuring Malawian chairs and brass chandeliers, as well as built-in bench seating for relaxing. There is plenty of room for entertainment whatever the weather. Coupled with a sparkling pool, fire pit with built-in bench seating and another outdoor dining area at the front of the property, this is the perfect home to escape and relax.
Beautiful French doors in many rooms of the house reflect the classic coastal style that Jaime calls one of the best things about the house, “one of his favorite features is the French door hinges. These beautiful antique brass hinges are a small part of our house However, we believe they have the biggest impact in any room. The size of the hinges and the way we open our doors, is a statement in itself.

When asked for other favorites around the house, he listed the kitchen concrete counters, the luxurious Coco Republic leather lounge, and Bahama blinds were designed and installed in the living area. But the most important thing is the indoor/outdoor bathhouse. Large stone bath, comfortably fits both adults and the ultimate in coastal indulgence and luxury.
When Jaime was asked to describe his style, he said, “Dave and I often ask or discuss what our style is. We feel that our style has evolved from a love for high contrasts, luxury and the quintessential beach house, we believe it can best be described as ‘Coastal Luxe’.
Jaime takes inspiration from many sources, but his number one holiday destination, Byron Bay, is where he gets most of his ideas. “Our favorite holiday destination is Byron Bay and our favorite places are The Atlantic or The Bower. We get a lot of inspiration from Byron. Some of the houses and designers that inspire us are Emma Lane and her house in the Byron Hinterland, The Bower, The Atlantic, Bisque House and Island Luxe”.
When asked what his best interior design tip is, he says “we live by the rule of three. An example of this is a kitchen that starts with a white palette and then adds concrete benchtops and wooden features to create a high and organic contrast.

Jaime and Dave’s home is just a short walk to the sparkling blue waters of Fraser Beach on the outskirts of Hervey Bay in Urangan. When asked, Jaime rattles off a long list of things to do in the area, “whale watching, a day trip to the world heritage listed Fraser Island, 15 kilometers from the esplanade to explore, Urangan Pier, cafes and restaurants on the sea, exploring calm water by boat sailing. or jet skiing and swimming all year round. We love the cafes and bars at Frontroom and Bean Beat and the relaxed beachside restaurant Enzo in Pantai. Our favorite fine dining restaurant is the vineyard which is a lazy 200 meter walk from the house. But for us, the best memory and favorite part of the day was walking on Urangan Beach with our children by our side and our beautiful Golden Retriever, Bryce.
From the seismic impact that is COVID-19, Jaime and Dave decide to ditch the hatches and ride the storm. He has moved the family back to Bay Beachouse during school but still has a house available during the Queensland school holidays. As Jaime said “It is very bitter for our family to return because we can finally enjoy what took two years to create. I tell Dave every day how much I love this kitchen, Dave loves that the Garden is in his hands again. When the world reflects what is important during the pandemic, we are also thinking. As a family, we have decided to stay at home while the children go to school.”
When asked what makes a great vacation retreat or home, Jaime replied, “a place where you can escape from work or the stress of life and really unplug to focus on your well-being in a relaxing and comfortable environment.”
And with the world in the midst of a pandemic and uncertainty, Bay Beachouse seems like the perfect remedy.
