One thing is certain: this dream cannot be forgotten. The entire driveway of Kuljas Joshi’s home in Page is occupied by a luxury car, all 12 feet of a Chrysler 300C Super Stretch limousine.

Kuljas arrived from New Zealand a year ago to work for the NSW Police. She currently conducts defense in the ACT law courts, but her fingers will soon be a part-time job.

“My friend passed me one day in a limo and asked if I wanted a ride. Then we thought: ‘Why don’t we take it?’
Kuljas and Julie Marshall started their own limousine business called Silver Fern Limousines. On June 11 and 12 they offered a minimum of three people lifetime admission to Canberra for $25 per person.
“They are very important in Sydney and Melbourne, but we thought we would bring the experience here to stay.”
After scouring the market to no avail, the business partners finally stumbled upon a Chrysler bus from Set the Scenes Limousines in Penrith, Sydney, for sale for about $70,000.

“We went there, looked, came back to Canberra and thought about it for a week,” says Kuljas.
“It turned out that the owner was retired and offered us a package – a limousine and a business.
They started and Kuljas and Julie are now updating the car, website and social pages with the Silver Fern brand.
“We prepare for a long time and do everything we can, from weddings to formal events, parties, funerals and just going out on the town,” he says.

The Chrysler is powered by a six-cylinder Mercedes turbodiesel that now has 180,000 km on it. From front to back, it is about 12 meters long, that is “two and a half HSV senators”. Either way, enough space to fit 12 people comfortably in the party room.
A tall leather swivel sofa is to one side and curved forward, with a minibar, music amplifier and screen in front. Color-changing stripes decorate all the main lines, while fiber optics on the roof reveal a starry sky. A privacy screen separates the driver and passenger compartments. Depending on the package, the mini bar can be filled with champagne and chocolate.
He describes the limo as “really easy to drive” despite the mix of fiberglass and steel that runs from the nature hatch to the garage.
“You can drive it with a normal car licence, but it’s like a big trailer – you have to be wider in the streets,” he says.

“The people are also nice and polite, they give us directions and allow us to maneuver around. We have to be careful to go through the rush so we don’t go under.
To get it cleaned, Kuljas has to put it through a truck wash. When it comes to servicing, obviously the normal lift can’t be used, so it goes to a specialist place in Mitchell where it can either go on a mechanical lift or be mounted on jack stands. Turning a lot of heads on the street makes it all worth it.
“Customers have commented on the service and cleanliness of the vehicle which is a very important factor.
“I also have a late series HSV Senator VF as my weekend car, which is also a great car for a wedding.
