Swansea Motel Lake Macquarie – The Swansea hotel has been sold to local group Hunter Hotels in an off-market deal, bringing their portfolio to nine locations in New South Wales’ Maitland, Central Coast and Lake Macquarie regions. The portfolio includes the Kincomber Hotel, Pippi’s at the Point and Finnegan’s Hotel in Newcastle’s CBD.
Lundy Hotels first bought the Swansea hotel from hotelier Phil Burney in 2016 for $13 million. Justin Lundy immediately took control of a significant renovation and refurbishment program that primarily involved repurposing a building site that had historically been leased to a third party.

Family patriarch Arthur Lundy said the pub was sold following a recent valuation of the overall Lundy hotel portfolio and sales and acquisitions for the group would continue apace.
Lundy said: We plan to be active in this environment in examining opportunities to buy and sell assets.
Sitting still is not an option for us at this time, and it certainly shouldn’t be for anyone else.”

The large format Swansea hotel is set on a 3,235 sq m site and is located in the heart of the suburb’s retail district. It has a 50-space off-street parking lot and 30 gaming machines along with 24-hour business verification facilities.
Dragicevich noted that pub sales are another indicator that Covid hasn’t dampened appetite for large, regional pubs.
