Room 216 – Why would you put families in such a poorly suited room? This is a glorified bunker. The stairs to the second bedroom are not ideal for children who need to use the toilet in the middle of the night. The waste pipe passing through the ceiling of the cellar room makes so much noise at night that the children jump out of bed at the sound of the hum. The floors were dirty, and the requested cleaning of the floors on day 2 did nothing to reduce the black soles of our white socks (or worse, bare feet). The slippers that were ordered on the second day were also not delivered. Place a rug in the TV area for minimal comfort. Meanwhile, the master bedroom carpet was molded in front of the sliding door, which was not surprising given the humidity of the area outside, which was also covered in dust. I think you could do a little better to make the stay more comfortable, even if the compromise is staying in a hotel room.
In my opinion, this is not a “luxury boutique” hotel as stated on the website. There are no restaurant or room service options and the mini bar had very few options that were not refilled during our 5 day stay. There is no bar or communal lounge and the building appears to be mainly serviced apartments. There was an information folder in the room which was empty, so no information about Brisbane and tourist attractions etc and walking around Brisbane was not easy, if you want a hotel with easy access to the city, this is not it. The hotel did nothing to counter these negatives, it was on an unattractive road and had no outdoor areas or gardens to walk around and our room had a view of a w. Pool and gym were fine, but shared with serviced apartments, not exclusive to hotel guests. Simply put, for me a luxury boutique hotel should have a bar or other relaxation area and provide a restaurant and room service, without these things we were basically paying for a serviced apartment. This was a disappointing stay for us, for the price we paid there are much better options for accommodation in Brisbane and we will not be returning to The Johnson.
The suite rooms are elegant, clean and fully equipped for extended stays. It is just outside the city center but the free Spring Hill Loop bus stop is right outside the hotel.
