Tma Crash Trucks And Traffic Trucks

After 17 years on the road, over 2,000 documented impacts and thousands of lives saved worldwide, the Scorpion TMA’s patented design is the safest and most reliable truck-mounted damper available today!

The Scorpion II TMA consists of strut and cartridge sections joined together on a support frame. This open cartridge reduces wind resistance and increases fuel efficiency when used on the job site and when driving at highway speeds. Each energy-absorbing pad has an aluminum honeycomb core enclosed in a powder-coated aluminum box module for maximum durability and longevity. The Scorpion II is equipped with omnivolt LED brake, direction, signal and driving lights to further enhance advanced warnings for drivers.

When hit, the Scorpion’s modular design breaks down in progressive stages, reducing impact forces on the vehicle’s occupants and resulting in lower repair costs and easy replacement of parts. The curved side rails are made of corrosion-resistant aluminum tubes and provide full-width impact protection along the entire length of the Scorpion II by safely redirecting the struck vehicle away from the deadly “coffin corners” at the rear of the truck. Unlike the Scorpion II, most other manufacturers’ crash attenuator models have little or no side angle protection.

When fully deployed, the Scorpion II TMA is only 13′ (4m) long, compared to other manufacturers’ units that exceed 19′ (5.8m), giving the Scorpion II the shortest overall length of a MASH-qualified truck-mounted attenuator the market. This shorter length reduces accidental impacts and repair costs, while providing the best safety and reliability you’ve come to expect from the Scorpion range of shock absorbers.

International 4300 Attenuator Trucks [4 Available]

The Scorpion II is MASH tested and qualified with a minimum truck vehicle weight of just 15,000 lbs (6,804 kg) with absolutely no upper weight limit. This is the widest range of host car weights of all MASH tested and qualified truck mounted dampers on the market.

Truck-mounted attenuator qualified for MASH, TL-3 tested at 62.5 mph (100 km/h); see FHWA Eligibility Letter CC-132 for details.

Automatic braking system that immediately blocks the brakes of the guest vehicle upon impact, further protecting the driver of the TMA truck, the occupants of the collided vehicle, and any neighbors or workers in the area of the accident.

The Scorpion TMA Model C folds up and over the bed into a flat bed, style bed or dumper. The Model C with its compact design and balanced weight distribution makes it ideal for high-speed travel. The Scorpion TMA Model C offers TL-3 impact protection. Side mounts are also available.

Scorpion Ll Tl 3 Trailer Attenuator

The Scorpion II Truck Mounted Attenuator (TMA) is a mobile airbag that is attached to the rear of the frame of a support vehicle. The TMA can be used on mobile shadow vehicles, stationary block vehicles or advanced warning vehicles upstream of a mobile or stationary operation. TMA is tested, passed and qualified for MASH TL-3 (62.5 mph / 100 kmph). The TMA can be used on support vehicles with a minimum current/tare weight of 15,000 lbs (6,804 kg) with no upper weight limit (infinite weight). The lighting consists of LED brake, direction, signal and driving lights to improve advanced warning for drivers. The TL-3 TMA has an overall dimension of 12.94 ft (3.9 m) × 8.0 ft (2.4 m) × 2.0 ft (0.6 m) and has a ground clearance of 12″ ± 1 ” (305 mm ± 25.4 mm) when deployed in horizontal operating position. The Scorpion II TMA consists of three (3) main components: strut, cartridge and backup/diaphragm frame. Strut and cartridge are the energy damping components. The support is closest to the support vehicle and the cassette is farthest from the support vehicle. The cartridge is usually the first component affected by a defective vehicle. Strut consists of four (4) outer convex aluminum tubes (two on each side) forming a structural aluminum weld. The aluminum structural welds are bolted to a structural steel membrane/support frame. The TMA can be rotated into a double 90° folded position above the bed of the support vehicle with a storage height of less than 12’5″ (3.8 m). An optional hydraulically powered vertical lift can be used with the TMA to install a. Display panel when the TMA is lowered to the use position. The vertical lift powered by the same onboard hydraulic system that rotates the TMA to travel/storage and deployed positions, the vertical lift is sequenced to raise a panel and lowering to show advanced messages, direction indicators or other alerts.
